Chip Printup

Social Media Specialist

Chip Printup, C.A. Printup (Tuscarora Iroquois/Skarù:ręˀ Haudenosaunee) s from Indiana and moved to the Bay Area after being offered a job at a local tv news station.

As a child, Chip was brought up with a deep love for their culture, news and helped out their mother organizing various events such as the late 00’s revitalization of the Longest Walk and multiple protest campaigns against Native iconography and school mascots in Wayne County, Indiana. This love for their culture and news came together when they were studying at the Indiana University of South Bend as they became a frequent participant on Native Twitter. Their participation and success in these online spaces led to opportunities with ICT (formerly known as Indian Country Today) and various other news outlets.

As Chip’s career progressed, they never forgot their roots and often advocated for Indigenous voices in every single newsroom or pitch to various nonIndigenous media outlets. In May of 2023, Chip moved out to the Bay Area for work and decided to make California their home.

In their role with the American Indian Cultural District, Chip hopes to uplift Native voices and bring them straight to non-Indigenous people and make their history known.
